Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal data Wave Pro collects, why, and your rights over it. We follow UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, and we keep data collection to what the service genuinely needs.

1. Who we are

Wave Pro is the data controller for the personal data described here. You can reach us at hello@wave-pro.co.uk.

2. What we collect

• Account — your email address, name, and an encrypted password.
• Profile — your home location (stored as coordinates only), your chosen home launch, and notification preferences.
• Garage — details of craft you add, which are private to your account unless you choose to list one.
• Marketplace — listings you create and the contact methods (phone, WhatsApp, email) you choose to publish on them.
• Activity — saved launches and listings, launch suggestions you submit, and basic technical logs needed to run and secure the service.

3. How we use it

• to provide and personalise Wave Pro — your greeting, nearby launches, and daily briefing;
• to operate the marketplace and let members contact each other when they choose to;
• to keep the platform safe, moderate community content, and prevent abuse;
• to send service messages, and — only where you have opted in — notifications.

4. Legal bases

We process data to perform our contract with you (providing the service), for our legitimate interests (keeping Wave Pro working, safe, and improving), and with your consent where required (such as notifications and precise location). You can withdraw consent at any time.

5. Sharing your data

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only:

• With other members you choose to contact — when you enquire about a listing or publish one, the contact details you provide are shared with the other party so you can deal directly.
• With service providers that run Wave Pro on our behalf — including cloud hosting and database (Supabase), application hosting (Netlify), weather data (Open-Meteo), and mapping/geocoding. They act on our instructions.
• Where required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of our members and the public.

6. Location and permissions

Location is optional. If you allow it, we use your device location to find nearby launches and store your home area as coordinates only — never a continuous track. You can change or clear this any time in your account, and revoke browser permissions in your device settings.

7. Retention, export and deleting your account

We keep your data while your account is active. From Account settings you can manage your account yourself at any time — change your password or email, update notification preferences, and download a copy of your data.

Deleting your account is permanent and cannot be undone. When you delete your account:

• We permanently delete your profile, Garage and craft history, your marketplace listings, saved launches and home launch, and the events you organised together with their RSVPs.
• We anonymise and keep any genuine launch reviews and community contributions you made — with your personal link removed and the author shown as “Former member” — so useful community knowledge is not lost.
• We retain records needed for platform integrity — moderation and abuse-report records, and any financial records — with your personal attribution removed. These are never shown to other users with your identity.

Where we must keep limited records to meet a legal, accounting, or fraud-prevention obligation, we retain only what is necessary for that purpose.

8. Security

Access to your data is protected by authentication and row-level security so members can only reach their own private records. Passwords are stored hashed, and data is encrypted in transit.

9. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to our use of your personal data, and request a portable copy. You can exercise several of these yourself from Account settings — download your data, change your password or email, and permanently delete your account. For any other request, email hello@wave-pro.co.uk. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

10. Cookies and local storage

Wave Pro uses only the storage needed to keep you signed in and remember essential preferences. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

11. Children

Wave Pro is intended for adults (18+) and is not directed at children.

12. International transfers

Where a service provider processes data outside the UK or EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses) to protect it.

13. Changes

We may update this policy as Wave Pro evolves and will post the revised version here with a new date.
